Can you imagine what it would be like to be a child visiting the library and scriptorium of the abbey convent of St. Hildegard of Bingen? The air rich with the scent of oak-gall ink and soft vellum. Candlelight and gentle sunbeams make the pages glow like living jewels: real gold leaf sparkling brighter than stars, twisting vines blooming from grand initials, and colors crushed from precious stones turning letters into rainbows. Imagine spending happy hours perusing the illuminated manuscripts, marveling at saints and visions, mischievous dragons peeking from the margins, the lore of stars and plants, ancient riddles, mysterious maps of far-off lands, the glorious music of Abbess Hildegard... Surrounded by sacred books like this, alive with mystery and color, what else would you want to do but search them out to collect their treasures and make your own Wonder Book?
